Ilgwang Beach
A curved beach in Gijang's Ilgwang district with local fishing-village history, the small Samseongdae landmark, cafés and an easy rail connection. It is a calmer alternative to the more crowded urban beaches and makes a self-contained seaside walk outside the lifeguarded swimming season.

Kma80jihun / Wikimedia CommonsSources & further readingOctober 2026 is outside Busan's supervised summer swimming season. Use Ilgwang for a beach walk and cultural scenery, not as a lifeguarded swim destination. The October 9–11 Gijang festivals take place farther north around Imrang and inland Gijang heritage sites, not on this beach.
Why go
Combine a seafront stroll with the Samseongdae hillock and village atmosphere. Ilgwang was associated with Oh Young-su's short story 'Gaetmaeul' and served as a setting for its film adaptation. The Donghae Line puts it within reach without a car, though a full eastern-Busan coast tour still needs buses or taxis between clusters.
