Busan Old Downtown: Nampo, Bupyeong, Bosu & Yongdusan

Start at Jagalchi or Nampo Station and choose a real walkable circuit through waterfront fish trading (Jagalchi), film-culture streets (BIFF Square), daytime specialty shopping (Gukje Market), evening snacks (Bupyeong Kkangtong Night Market), living used-book culture (Bosu-dong), and a hilltop viewpoint (Yongdusan Park/Busan Tower). Most links are on foot but Bosu's steps and Yongdusan's slope matter.

What it feels like now

Busan Old Downtown: Nampo, Bupyeong, Bosu & Yongdusan

This is six distinct stops, not a single huge market. Jagalchi is the waterfront fish market; BIFF Square is the film/tourism spine; Gukje is daytime retail and vintage/household goods; Bupyeong's night market operates on a different clock; Bosu is a smaller independent book-selling alley that deserves respectful browsing; Yongdusan Park is free but its tower is paid. Suggested easy progression: subway Jagalchi Exit 7 → Gukje/BIFF → Bupyeong → Bosu in daylight; save tower or Jagalchi harbor for later. Do not describe the historic stairs as a step-free route.

What's new

New & interesting

On October 8, Busan Jung-gu detailed the October 15–18 Jagalchi Festival: market and Yurari Square, a 19:00 opening ceremony on October 15, fireworks subject to conditions, and a parade that passes Gwangbok-ro. Prefer this new official district program notice over older third-party festival calendars. Meanwhile March 2026 reporting found Bosu's bookstore population has dwindled, so shopping-oriented suggestions should not promise every shop is open. Verify daily schedules and festival traffic restrictions closer to the date.
