There is a concrete reason to revisit Nodeul Island, in the Han River: its newly opened waterfront gardens and walking route. Seoul’s September 17 announcement describes play and ecological gardens, more places to sit by the river, and a 1.5-kilometre walking and running loop.
That is the present offer. The floating garden is planned for December 2027, and the elevated sky art garden for 2030. They are not attractions you can visit now. The city says completed sections are opening while work continues.
For an international visitor, the useful shift is modest but tangible: a place to spend time beside the water, rather than a quick stop justified by an ambitious rendering. We read the seating, play areas and loop as an invitation to linger; that is our interpretation of the design, not proof of changed visitor behaviour.
Start with the operator’s current notices and map. Indoor venue hours should not be assumed to apply to every new outdoor section, and construction or event arrangements may affect routes. We have not walked the new loop or independently tested accessibility. Treat the opening as a newly available riverside option, not a promise that the entire island redevelopment is complete.
Visit update, checked October 1: the operator’s September 22 notices say Nodeul operates without closure days from October 2–11, 10:00–22:30, during Seoul Light Hangang Bitseom Festival. The west parking lot is closed throughout those dates, 00:00–24:00. Use public transport. These are temporary island operating arrangements, not a verified opening time for every waterfront section.
