For active safety information in Korea, use the Ministry of the Interior and Safety's official Safe Korea service rather than relying only on social media or a general map app. The English portal shows current emergency alerts and weather information and provides quick access to shelter, fire station, police station and emergency medical center information.

The portal also links the Emergency Ready app. Install or bookmark the official service before a day involving hiking, islands, beaches, mountain roads or long-distance travel, where weather and local closures can change quickly.

Emergency alerts can be very local. A warning about a coastal area, wildfire, heavy rain, flooding or road restriction may apply to one county or district without affecting the rest of the region. Read the location named in the alert before changing a whole itinerary.

If an alert tells people to avoid or evacuate an area, follow local authorities rather than trying to complete a sightseeing plan. For immediate police help call 112; for fire or medical emergency call 119.

The English portal can lag behind the Korean service or translation availability can vary. If a warning looks important but unclear, use 1330 for travel-language help or ask accommodation staff to confirm the local instruction.
