Jeju's public transport works best when you identify the bus type before you board and use the official web system for the exact route.

The official fare page currently lists adult trunk/branch buses, including tourist-circulation buses, at KRW 1,150 by card or KRW 1,200 cash. Express buses use a distance-based fare: the card base fare is KRW 2,000 for up to 20 km and additional distance charges can raise the card fare to KRW 3,000; cash riders are charged the maximum KRW 3,000. Village buses have separate fares. Airport limousine routes 600 and 800/800-1 also use their own distance-based fare bands.

For route planning, use the official Jeju Bus Information System. It provides route, stop, departure/arrival and live-bus-location searches, plus current disruption notices. A notice dated July 27, 2026 says the Jeju Bus Information app was discontinued and explains how to add the web page to a phone home screen. That is a good reason not to rely on an old app download or an old route screenshot.

Taxis are useful for early departures, late arrivals and rural last-mile trips. The official taxi page currently lists a medium-taxi base fare of KRW 4,300 for the first 2 km, a 20% late-night surcharge from 23:00 to 04:00, and a KRW 1,000 call fee where an eligible call service applies. The listed tariff has been effective since July 1, 2024.

Before a timed trip, search the exact Korean stop name and check the live bus location. On long island crossings, compare the express fare and schedule with a taxi only after confirming the actual destination, because Jeju distances are larger than they can look on a tourist map.
