Gangwon is not one transport system. A trip may begin by KTX or express bus, then depend on a local bus, taxi or short rural transfer. When that last leg is unclear, use the province’s official tourist-information network instead of assuming a Seoul-style transit pattern.

Gangwon Tourism’s current directory lists information centers across the province, including Gangneung Express and Intercity Bus Terminal, Jumunjin, several Sokcho locations, Donghae, Taebaek, Samcheok, Hongcheon Intercity Bus Terminal, Hoengseong, Yeongwol, and Pyeongchang locations such as Bongpyeong and Jinbu/Odaesan. The exact center that helps most is usually the one closest to where you arrive.

Examples from the current directory include Gangneung Terminal Tourist Information Center (+82-33-640-4537), Sokcho Express Bus Terminal Information Center (+82-33-639-2689), Sokcho Intercity Bus Terminal Information Center (+82-33-639-2830), Donghae City Tourist Information Center (+82-33-530-2800), Taebaek City Tourist Information Center (+82-33-550-2828), Hongcheon Intercity Bus Terminal Tourist Information Center (+82-33-433-1259), Yeongwol Jangneung Tourist Information Center (+82-33-374-4215), and Pyeongchang tourist information centers listed by the province.

Use these desks for local questions that national booking sites may not answer well: which bus stop serves a rural attraction, whether a seasonal shuttle is running, how to reach a trailhead, or which terminal is relevant for your return. Call ahead when your arrival is late, on a holiday, or time-sensitive because the provincial directory does not establish one common opening schedule for every center.

Do not assume every center offers the same foreign-language support, ticket sales or baggage service. Treat the center as a local information point, then verify any reservation or operating schedule with the transport operator or facility itself.
