For Soje-dong, the key decision at Daejeon Station is not a bus number — it is choosing the correct side of the station.
Daejeon Tourism’s official station guide says that when visitors leave Daejeon Station toward the East Square, they enter the quieter streets of the former Soje-dong railway housing village. Daejeon Dong-gu also describes the Dong-gu Dongrak Festival as an urban cultural festival held behind Daejeon Station around the East Square, Donggwangjang-ro and the Daedong Stream.
Use this simple rule:
- Arrive at Daejeon Station and follow signs for the East Square / 동광장 side.
- Once outside on the east side, use the Korean destination name `소제동` or the event address `대전 동구 철갑2길 2` in your local map app if you need one exact entrance.
- For the October 9–11 Dong-gu Dongrak Festival, remember that the event spreads across Donggwangjang-ro and the Daedong Stream rather than one indoor gate. The official district listing uses 2 Cheolgap 2-gil as its address reference.
- Do not assume one fixed walking time. The exact cafe, market zone, concert stage or stream-side program can be in a different part of the district.
This route is most useful for travelers arriving by KTX/SRT or local rail who want to explore Soje-dong immediately without crossing to the opposite old-downtown side first.
If you are carrying heavy luggage, solve luggage storage before entering the neighborhood. Daejeon Station already links to the separate Daejeon Travel Lounge luggage-help guide.
