Busan Metro offers three practical ticket paths for visitors: single-use QR tickets, reloadable transit cards and mobile tickets through the Busan Urban Railway app. Current official fares are distance-banded. For adults, a transit card or mobile ticket is KRW 1,600 for section 1 and KRW 1,800 for section 2; single-use QR tickets are KRW 1,700 and KRW 1,900. Transit cards can be bought from station vending machines, and remaining balances can be refunded at participating convenience stores rather than by Busan Metro itself. The official app also offers 1-day, 3-day and 1-month passes; foreigners can use the app as non-members with email authentication. Current adult prices are KRW 6,000 for the 1-day pass and KRW 13,000 for the 3-day pass. These passes are for Busan urban rail only and do not include buses, the Donghae Line or Busan-Gimhae Light Rail. If you will transfer frequently between metro and buses, compare a normal transit card with the metro-only pass instead of assuming the unlimited pass covers the full city network.

01
What we're seeing
The metro-only day passes are simple for subway-heavy days, while a regular transit card is more flexible when buses or other rail systems are part of the itinerary.
02
What we still don't know
Foreign-issued card acceptance at every vending machine and app payment method was not independently transaction-tested. Fares and pass rules can change.
