Busan's famous beaches are not closed like gated attractions when summer ends, but the supervised swimming season is seasonal. For 2026, Songdo, Songjeong, Gwangalli, Dadaepo East and West, Ilgwang and Imnang ended their official beach season on August 31. Haeundae remained open as an operated beach until September 15, then also closed for the season.

That means an October visitor can still go to the waterfront, walk the sand, use nearby promenades and enjoy neighborhood restaurants or cafés, but should not interpret physical access to the beach as permission for normal supervised swimming. Lifeguard coverage, buoyed swim zones, rentals and activity programs are tied to seasonal operations and can be reduced or absent outside the official period.

In 2026 the city operated the main beaches from 09:00 to 18:00 during their season, with Haeundae and Songjeong starting June 26 and the other major beaches starting July 1. Those dates are useful context only; 2027 schedules have not been announced here and should not be inferred from 2026.

Before entering the water outside peak season, check current district or beach notices, weather, waves and any posted restrictions. If safety staff say the sea is closed or conditions are unsafe, follow the local instruction even if other people are in the water.

For trip planning, treat Busan's beaches as year-round waterfront destinations but supervised swimming as a separately announced seasonal service.
