Ulsan Petroglyph Museum
A specialist museum beside Bangucheon that gives travelers the archaeological and cultural context needed to understand Ulsan’s rock-art landscape, including full-scale models and interpretive material on the Bangudae and Cheonjeon-ri petroglyphs.
The next session of “Museum Therapy with a World Heritage Site: Bangucheon Walk, Yoga and Meditation” is scheduled for Saturday, October 17, 10:00–12:00. Applicants must be in grade 4 or older; elementary-school participants need a guardian. It is free, online registration is limited to 20 people on a first-come basis, and the city reservation listing shows an October 15 deadline, though seats may fill sooner. Because it includes an outdoor walk, weather may change the program; recheck the museum’s notice before setting out. For organized groups with young children, “Forest Museum School” is another option: the 2026 October dates are the 8th, 20th and 22nd at 10:30 and 13:30 (40 minutes per session). It is a free, advance-reservation program for groups from childcare centers/kindergartens with children age 6+ (10–20 people per session), not a walk-in activity for individuals. Check Ulsan Moa for current registration and remaining seats; dates may change. An additional November session is scheduled for Saturday, November 21, 10:00–12:00. Ulsan Moa lists free registration through November 19 at 18:00, with 20 places; at 08:22 KST on October 8 it showed 5/20 booked and 0/5 waitlisted. Availability changes live, so check the booking page again.
Why go
This is the practical starting point for travelers who do not want the nearby rock-art sites to be just distant marks on stone. The museum explains motifs, prehistoric life and the landscape, and its guided field program can connect the indoor interpretation with an outdoor walk along Bangucheon.
