National Museum of Korean Contemporary History
A free national museum on Gwanghwamun Square covering modern and contemporary Korean history. It is also hosting the National Hangeul Museum’s Hangeul Day centennial exhibition while the Hangeul Museum’s main building is temporarily closed.
The museum is currently hosting the Hangeul Day centennial exhibition “FROM 1926 TO INFINITY,” which opened October 2, 2026.

It is an easy central-Seoul stop for modern Korean history, with free admission, late opening on Wednesdays and Saturdays, and current off-site Hangeul programming.
