Jinnamgwan
A monumental wooden hall in Yeosu’s former Jeolla Jwasuyeong naval-command zone. Yeosu’s current Korean tourism page says the hall was first built in 1599 after the Imjin War, rebuilt in 1718, and is designated National Treasure No. 304; the city’s 2026 municipal report says a long dismantling-and-repair project was completed. It is also a stop on Yeosu’s current city-tour route.
Checked against Yeosu City notices on 7 October 2026. The Yeosu Heritage Night runs 18:00–23:00 around Jinnamgwan from 8–11 October. Separately, National Heritage Media Art runs 19:30–21:30 from 9 October to 8 November, closing Tuesdays and 18–19 October. Heritage Night covers Jinnamgwan, the former magistrate-office site, Gosodae and Jinnam shopping street; the media-art route covers Jinnamgwan, Gosodae and Yi Sun-sin Square. Check each program’s venue and closure dates.
Why go
Go for the scale and setting of a surviving Joseon-era provincial-government building tied to Yeosu’s naval history, then continue on foot toward Gosodae and Yi Sun-sin Square. The site is especially useful as context for understanding why the surrounding old downtown carries so much Yi Sun-sin and naval-heritage interpretation.
