Jangsaengpo Whale Culture Village
A hands-on recreation of life in Jangsaengpo during the 1960s–70s whaling boom, inside Ulsan’s Whale Culture Zone. Its 22 buildings include a bookshop, café, Chinese restaurant, stationery shop, photo studio, uniform shop and old elementary school, offering a look at the port’s industrial and social history.
Ulsan Tourism lists hours of 09:00–18:00, with ticketing closing at 17:30, and closure on Mondays, Seollal day and Chuseok day. Admission is KRW 3,000 per person (KRW 2,400 for groups of 20 or more). The city page lists the address, phone +82-52-226-0980, an accessible restroom, east/west parking and large-bus parking. Recheck same-day closures, fees and facility operation with the operator before departure.
Why go
Families can try period uniforms, black-and-white photos and dalgona candy-making while exploring Jangsaengpo’s whaling-era streetscape. The village, Whale Museum, Whale Ecology Experience Hall and Whale Sculpture Park are close enough to combine. Korea Tourism Organization’s February 2026 guide puts the walk from the Whale Museum to the village at about 500 m/10 minutes, uphill, and suggests starting at the upper end and walking down. The monorail and some activities may cost extra; check the on-site price board.
