Deoksugung Palace — City Hall, Seoul
A compact historic royal palace beside Seoul City Hall and Seoul Plaza, notable for the meeting of late-Joseon palace courtyards and Western-style architecture. Regular palace grounds are open 09:00–21:00 year-round (final entry 20:00), normally closed Monday with public-holiday substitution rules. Adult standard admission KRW 1,000 for Korean visitors aged 25–64 and foreign visitors aged 19–64; National Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art (Deoksugung) tickets are separate from palace entry.
For the October 9–11 Hangeul Day weekend, regular daily visiting hours to 21:00 make this more flexible than daytime-only palaces. Confirm special-event entry, building access, ticket and weather notices from the official palace authority before departure; no same-day crowd estimate is verified.
Why go
An easy central Seoul landmark for a late-afternoon or evening walk. The Daehanmun gate and stone-wall street connect naturally to Seoul Plaza, Seoul City Hall Gallery and the Gwanghwamun area; the palace and its separately managed art exhibitions should not be treated as one ticket.
