Chungnyeolsa Shrine (Dongnae, Busan)
A remembrance shrine in Dongnae commemorating the 1592 Imjin War and 93 people who died defending Busan. Its quiet memorial grounds, main hall, Uiyeolgak and former academy buildings offer a different historical visit from the busy Dongnae Eupseong fortress festival.

Historical 2015 view of Chungnyeolsa, not proof of October 2026 access or exhibition operation.
Korea Heritage Service / Minseong Kim — Wikimedia CommonsSources & further readingFor the October 2026 Dongnae history itinerary, this shrine adds an accessible-to-plan, separate 1592 remembrance stop that is not itself a Dongnae Eupseong festival stage. Official city guidance lists autumn/winter ground access 09:00–20:00 and free admission, but some halls may have shorter hours. Previous 2026 temporary Memorial Hall closures related to exhibit conservation occurred in April and July; they do not establish ongoing October closure. Confirm any new venue-specific notices before promising indoor access.
Why go
Use Busan Metro Line 4 Chungnyeolsa Station as the rail approach, then follow the signposted route to Chungnyeol-daero 345. Start at the site map and outer entrance, continue to the main hall and Uiyeolgak, and leave time for the landscaped grounds; this is a place of remembrance, so keep voices low and respect areas reserved for ritual. The memorial exhibition building is distinct from the outdoor shrine grounds. Plan about 40–70 minutes depending on exhibits and slopes, as an editorial estimate rather than an official visit duration.
