Busan Modern and Contemporary History Museum — Main Building and Annex

Two historic museum buildings in Busan's Daecheong-dong: the former Bank of Korea Busan branch (112 Daecheong-ro) and a separate annex (104). Explore the city's port opening, Korean War refugee-capital years and industrialization, with the outdoor 40 Steps street nearby. The 40 Steps Culture Center (49 Donggwang-gil) is yet another venue.

Why it matters now

October 2026 regular museum hours: Tue–Sun 09:00–18:00 (last entry 17:00), usually closed Monday and Jan 1 with holiday exceptions. The October guided-tour notice lists Tue–Thu 10:30 and 14:00; Fri–Sat 10:30; Sun 14:00, subject to changes. The Oct 9–10 Gwangbok Record Fair in the annex has separate 12:00–21:00 event hours, not normal exhibition opening. The outdoor 40 Steps is not the fair venue.

Why go

About seven minutes' walk from Jungang Station exit 5 or 12 minutes from Nampo Station exit 1. Visit the main museum and annex, then add the 40 Steps heritage street and its refugee-life sculptures for context; the museum and 40 Steps are distinct stops. Nampo markets and Bosu book alley can extend the walk, but steps and slopes prevent a fully step-free circuit. Check advance reservation for the children's experience room.
