Busan Gadeokdo: Yeondaebong, Daehang & Oeyangpo

Gadeokdo is a separate southwest-Busan day trip, not a continuous coastal walk from Dadaepo. Choose a 2–3-hour summit hike on Yeondaebong (about 459 m), the fishing harbor and late-war coastal tunnels at Daehang, or Oeyangpo's early-1900s Japanese battery and lived-in village. Do not treat them as one easy walking loop.

What it feels like now

Busan Gadeokdo: Yeondaebong, Daehang & Oeyangpo

Plan by purpose. (1) Hike Yeondaebong from the Jiyanggok trailhead with enough time to descend. (2) For coastal heritage, Busan's official Galmaetgil 5-3 guide estimates Jiyanggok to Daehang Fishing Experience Village at 1.5 km/40 min, then Daehang to Daehang Saebaji at another 1 km/20 min. These are coastal trail sections, NOT the summit-hike distance or a promise of step-free access. (3) Oeyangpo is a different historic settlement from Daehang's tunnels; consider it a separate stop if bus timing allows. Gadeokdo has no metro stop. Verify the actual routing, direction, Oeyangpo extension and return journey of bus 520 and any express 2000 transfer on Busan's current bus information system. Older advice to take 520 directly from Hadan may be outdated. Be mindful of steep ground, strong wind, sea-front closures, homes and military-restricted areas.

What's new

New & interesting

The island's new-airport site-preparation basic design was submitted September 7, 2026, followed by scrutiny of the technical assessment and safety statements on October 7. This does not mean the airport is open or that all local attractions are closed. Construction timelines and actual access restrictions must be checked separately. Recent visitor reports pair Daehang's tunnels with Oeyangpo, but do not verify same-day road access or return buses.
