Gijang Culture & Tourism Festa 2026
Gijang Culture & Tourism Festa 2026 is a first-year, spread-out county festival running October 9–11. Its two main programs are the Gijang Fortress Festival around Janggwancheong and the Gijang Modern History Museum in Gijang-eup, and the Imrang Wellness Tourism Festival on Imrang Beach in Jangan-eup. The 20th Gijang Arts Festival also runs at the fortress site on October 10–11. Expect books, music, film, traditional performance, local arts, hands-on activities and guided walks at the heritage site; Imrang focuses on a wellness camp, running, a morning rave, talks, meditation and recovery activities. The venues are in different townships, so allow separate transfer time. Admission is listed as free, but booking and times vary by session.

문화재청 / Wikimedia CommonsSources & further readingChecked on the morning of October 9, 2026 (KST), opening day. Gijang County says this is the first year of the umbrella festival, linking two main venues—Gijang Fortress and Imrang Beach—with the 20th Gijang Arts Festival at the fortress site on October 10–11. The county says the arts festival brings exhibitions, performances and activities across seven local arts disciplines. No official attendance forecast or actual visitor count was found, so the event is not described as a large-scale festival. The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism lists only the Imrang festival as October 9–11, 10:00–17:00, free; those hours should not be applied to the separate fortress program. Imrang lists yoga, running, beach walks, meditation, wellness talks and experiences, with day-specific camp, morning-rave and recovery activities; some sessions may require advance booking. Gijang County’s official blog lists individual fortress-program times: a book concert on Oct 9, 16:00–17:30; challenge dance on Oct 10, 14:30–15:30 and a book concert 17:00–18:30; and a Neighborhood BIFF program on Oct 11, 18:00–21:00. These are session times, not overall opening hours; check the latest official timetable and booking links before leaving. I opened and compared three Naver previews by different authors dated Oct 6, 7 and 8. They commonly frame the fortress grounds as a leisurely mix of books, performances, films and activities, but emphasize different details: lawn-picnic pacing and the daily program, family activities and parking, or free entry and booking caveats. They are previews, not firsthand reports from this year. Some posts disagree on film titles or guests; details not corroborated by the official timetable were excluded. Visit Busan says Imrang Beach is reachable from Jwacheon Station on the Donghae Line by bus 37 to Imrang Samgeori and a five-minute walk, or by buses 37, 180 or 188. Gijang County lists a free 43-space lot beside the beach service office and a free 17-space lot in Imrang-ri; live availability and festival-day controls are not published. Near the fortress, the county lists the paid Gijang Market public lot with 216 spaces, but the event-day walking route and controls need confirmation. Do not assume the two sites are walkable from one another; check same-day directions and contact Gijang Tourism at +82-51-709-3976 if needed.
